By Miranda Frasier ANY WOMAN WILL TELL YOU there are certain things she just can’t live without. And I’m no different. Even though I always carried a large business tote for my files, laptop, and lunch, I had trouble navigating through the abyss of my bag to find what was really essential—my keys, phone, and wallet. I’d dig first from one side of the bag, then dig from the other, and then finally resort to actually emptying the bag, item by item, until I found what I was looking for. My tote has been emptied on my desk, on the curb outside my car, on retail store countertops, in restaurants. Charming, huh? But all that changed when I got my first wristlet. I’d seen them on celebrities and thought they were just cool little purses (which probably held their rolls of cash and their various loose diamonds). Then I realized that even if what I put in it is different, the purpose of my wristlet is the same as theirs: to keep the most important items right where I need them, when I need them. Portable and classy, the wristlet pays attention to style without weighing me down with bulk. Slim, sleek, and efficient, it never gets out of control like my tote does. And, slid over my wrist, it is something every purse should be—secure. I can clip my keys onto the strap too, if I need extra room inside. And, if I need to carry more on any given day, I can still pack the wristlet into a larger tote, then leave the tote at work while I run errands with my wristlet. THE BEST THING ABOUT MY WRISTLET is that it adapts to where I’m going. If I’m going on a business lunch, I can stow business cards, my cell, a pen, and cash. If I’m going shopping, I pack my credit cards, some cash, and it holds all my receipts together. If I’m going out after work, it holds my cell, lipstick, and tip money. Did you know FranklinCovey adds a free coordinating wristlet to all their business totes and cases. Made with the same high-quality materials and linings to match the bags, their wristlets clip right into the tote or case itself, making it even easier to keep track of—a great accessory and a great organizer all in one. Now, people no longer have to wait for me to rummage through my bag to find my keys and wallet and phone. In fact, I’m waiting for them! What do you use your wristlet for?

June 30: “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities. And this can best be done in the context of the week.” While you need to prioritize your tasks everyday, it is important to take Monday and schedule your priorities throughout the week. Start today and give yourself a half an hour to schedule your priorities this week.—Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, p. 16

June 27: Tensions high at work? Plan an off-site activity for your team that will be both fun and unifying. It’s hard to keep everyone motivated when their overworked and stressed to the max. Loosening up a little bit will “sharpen the saw,” energizing and renewing the members of your team. Message Edited by GOAdmin on 06-19-2008 02:52 PM

July 2: Is there one person who always interrupts your day, making it impossible for you to stay on task? Make a game plan of how you’re going to deal with this person the next time they interrupt you. Whether it’s a polite “I’m sorry, I have to get back to work. We’ll chat later,” or a technique to give them the hint that you have a lot to do, next time you’ll be ready.

July 1: It’s not fun to paint your house or replace your gutters in the middle of the winter. Today, make a list of all of the projects that you want to have done by the end of the summer. Map out which ones you will do and when, and create a reasonable timeline for accomplishing them.
