Academic Time vs. Real Time

Does anyone know of a way to get the build it yourself planner to be configured to match course hours?  We use a particular schedule that doesn't fit well in any of the prescribed planner versions, which is what's keeping me from using my planner the way I had hoped to -- Outlook isn't terrific for it, but it's closer.  But I'd like a paper version.  Any ideas?

Hi there, I'm not sure I

Hi there, I'm not sure I understand. Aren't we all in the same world journeying through the same timespace continuum? I use high tech tools: color pencils to block out my class time on Original Compact 2-page daily pages starting July. I have a personal color code system: red is academic, since that's how I mainly make my living, as a professor. Yellow for my creative work, which is also my self-employment. Green for money (anything financial). And, blue for family/friends, etc.

I spend an hour or so an a Sunday blocking out my schedule for the semester: just drawing a red line at 10:30 and another where 11:15 would be in the next hour time block. I write the course number and ":30", etc., and arrow down the block indicating the class time block. It's in red, so I can see at a glance that I have to be in class that day, or office hours, or whatever. I do that on the daily and month pages. That way it's all on the same page: academic, work, social calendar all on one day. I use those silly stickers, too, and put "meeting" or "day off!" stickers where appropriate. Just doing that, helps me remember.

Also, I use the binder bundle system, anyway I like; a hole punch is your friend. The assortment of colored tabs helps me find the color coded sections, like when I want to go the syllabus, class list or grade sheet. I copy and shrink these to fit my binder.

Oh yes, did you see the

Oh yes, did you see the thread on teachers' forms and agenda? There's info there, too. And, I've also used the daily pages and other pages from a college agenda, and repunched the holes for my binder. But, I much prefer my Franklin Planner.

I like using the Yearly

I like using the Yearly Foldout calendar with shorthand entries for classes or workshops. I then use one FranklinCovey colored plastic envelope for each class or workshop. All notes for one class go behind the green envelope, another behind the yellow envelope. I also use the shorter pages for scheduling and the regular pages for post class notes.

I understand what you are

I understand what you are saying. I am a student, wife and mom. I haven't found a premade planner yet that covers the time range I need. My solution is I gave up on the perfect planner, I use a vertical weekly format (blooms weekly is my favorite) and extended the day into the task section. With the vertical format I can quickly see if a time of day is available or when schedule conflicts occur. Tasks get put on a progressive task list, a lined page, or a post it depending on the amount of info that goes with it and how urgent it is. When class ends on the quarter or half hour I write that in. Assignments get written on the day they are due during the scheduled time for class. All appointments are written in pencil because schedules can change at the drop of a hat.
Hope that helps
